How Dirty Is Washington DC Compared To Other US Cities?

According to a review of government data by the cleaning-services company Busy Bee, New York City is the dirtiest metropolis in the United States, with more pests and litter than anywhere else.

The company ranked 40 urban areas across the country based on pest and litter data from the American Housing Survey, air pollution data from the Environmental Protection Agency, and population estimates from the USA Census Bureau.

The Big Apple took the top spot in three of those categories, giving it a highest-in-the-nation score.

How Dirty Is Washington DC Compared To Other US Cities?

Well, it’s not as bad as New York City, but Washington, DC, is ranked among the country’s dirtiest cities.

WASHINGTON, DC POLLUTION

Plenty of people are drawn to cities because of job opportunities, cultural diversity, plentiful entertainment, optimum medical care, public transportation, vibrant nightlife, and more.

City life means traffic, crowds, litter, noise, and lack of space. Factories and high concentration of vehicles can lead to air pollution that can trigger a large variety of side effects.

The crowds, air pollution, litter, and pests prevalent on Washington, D.C., streets earned the city a place among the top metro areas in a recent survey of the dirtiest cities in the United States. The nation’s capital landed at No. 12 among U.S. cities.

Researches have shown that many allergens, toxic gasses, dust, and debris, from polluted D.C. air, can find their way into your home and your vents every day. With this on the mind, we should take all precautionary measures for breathing clean air, because it is essential for good health.

Also, indoor air tends to be more polluted than outdoor air. That is why you have to take care of your HVAC system. Schedule your HVAC system cleaning this summer. Call your local air duct cleaning company.
