DYO HVAC Troubleshooting

As a homeowner, you should be able to identify some of the most common HVAC system problems. This will not only save you time and money but keep you cool during the summer season. It’s not sweating at all. If you aren’t sure how to do it, we will explain to you a few ways to troubleshoot your cooling system in a minute.

If you’ve been experiencing some of the following problems, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to call an HVAC technician, instead, try to solve it on your own.

1. Poor indoor air quality

This problem usually calls for filter replacement. Check it out, if it is dirty replace it. A dirty air filter can also be the reason for air flow blockade. Make sure you change it quarterly. Also, clear debris around your outdoor HVAC unit.

2. Your system only blowing hot or cold air

This problem is usually related to thermostat. Check it out, and make sure to adjust it right. During winter time it should be adjusted to “heat” mode, and during summer to “cool” mode. Also, make sure that work mode is turned to “auto” instead to “on”. If you can’t adjust your thermostat it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that it is broken, sometimes you just need to replace the battery on your remote control and thermostat.

If you are still dealing with the problem, you need to call your local air duct cleaning company to give you a professional repair.
