HVAC System Summer Preparation

Your HVAC system is usually the most complicated system of your home. When it works, you don’t even notice its there,  when it doesn’t, you notice it right away. To avoid being in an unpleasant situation,  sweating in a boiling hot room, you should prepare your HVAC system for summer.

1. Clean the outdoor unit

The outdoor unit is exposed to natural elements such as wind, rain, snow, different types of animals. Dirt and debris tend to build up around or in the outdoor unit, which may lead to fan blockage, and eventually, the unit failure. Not only will it take longer for the air conditioner to cool your home, but you’ll also be wasting energy and spending more money. To solve this problem, call a certified HVAC technician, and you won’t have to worry about cleaning it again for another few months.

2. Change the air filter

The air filter is one of the key components of every HVAC system. It is designed for two purposes: to improve and maintain the air quality and to protect the entire system from potential malfunctions. Check it and change it. Some of the most common HVAC system problems can be solved by replacing a filter regularly.

3. Have a regular tune-up

Call your local HVAC cleaning company and schedule a regular tune-up. The studies show that by doing so, your unit will maintain up to 95% efficiency. It will reflect very well on your monthly electric bill by bringing you savings.

4. Shade the outdoor unit

When the heatwave hits the city, there is a thing you could do to improve your HVAC unit’s effectiveness. Plant a tree near the outside unit and keep it in shade. Shading your outside unit is an accepted way to increase its efficiency and lower your cooling costs. Also, the plants do good for the environment and look very pretty.
