Pollen Explosion in DC

Pollen Explosion in DC

Pollen season is expected typically from late March to the end of May. The severity of the pollen season depends on the weather and the region. Nevertheless, if you are allergic to pollen, even low pollen counts can affect you. But what about the pollen explosion? This year, because of the warmer weather, pollen grains start to emerge earlier than usual, in early February. So, the pollen counts in DC have reached very high levels. Based on the current weather conditions, the pollen forecast for DC predicts the high allergy risk. The worst offenders are tree and grass pollen.

Here is some advice on how to minimize or prevent the severe allergic reaction:

1. For nature lovers

If you can’t avoid being outside, follow these tips. When being in nature, wear a mask, we bet it doesn’t come hard on you after the corona pandemic. Don’t sit under the tree, instead sit on a meadow. After being outdoor, take off your shoes outside the door, take a shower, and change your clothes. Brush your hair or better yet wash it.

2. For house bugs

If you like spending your time at home, follow these couple of advice. Close all the windows and doors. Before using your A/C system, make sure it’s clean.  Also, change the filters.

3. Take your therapy at all times

Go to your physician and find out which therapy is best for you. There is a wide specter of medications and nasal sprays that can reduce your symptoms.
